Vial tracking

Know what's left in every vial.

The short answer

Which app tracks how much is left in my peptide vials?

A vial tracker starts each vial at the amount on its label and takes off every dose you log, so it always shows the doses left and, at your schedule, the day the vial runs out. PepVault, our iPhone app, keeps that count for every vial, pen and bottle you add: the run-out date moves with your schedule and any step-up, a vial is marked running low a week before it runs out, and a mixed vial's 28 days count from the date you mixed it. For one vial without an app, the free vial calculator on this site gives the doses and the days.

What to track, and why.

  1. 01

    Start from the label.

A vial holds the amount printed on it, 5 mg or 10 mg, and that's the number to count from. The water you add sets how concentrated it is, not how many doses it holds, so a full vial's doses are its milligrams divided by your dose.

Count one vial: how long will my vial last?
  2. 02

Take off every dose you log.

Each dose you log comes off the vial's total, so the count stays true when a dose is late, skipped or changed. A vial you'd already started before you tracked it starts from what's actually left in it.

  3. 03

Turn the doses into a date.

The doses left, spaced by your schedule, give the day the vial runs out. Example: a 10 mg vial at 250 mcg once a day holds 40 doses, 40 days of supply. A weekly shot works the same way: a 10 mg vial at 2.5 mg once a week holds 4 doses, 4 weeks of supply. A step-up takes more from the vial each time, so the date comes closer when the dose goes up.

  4. 04

    Mind the 28-day mark.

Once a needle has gone into a mixed vial, the CDC's limit for a multi-dose vial is 28 days unless its maker states another date, so a vial that would last longer meets that date first. Note the day you mixed it.

Check a mixed vial against the 28 days
  5. 05

Count the spares, and reorder in time.

Unmixed vials on the shelf carry the supply on, each with its own 28 days once you open it. A run-out date a week ahead leaves time to reorder before a dose comes up short.

Questions people ask.

What's the best app to track how much is left in my peptide vials?

One that starts each vial at its labelled amount and takes off every dose you log, so the doses left and the run-out date stay current. PepVault, our app, does that for every vial, pen and bottle, marks a vial running low a week ahead, and keeps your doses, sites and bloodwork in the same place: $44.99 a year or $9.99 a month, with 7 days free on the yearly plan for new subscribers. PeptidePal (4.7 from 4,824 ratings) projects each vial's run-out about a week ahead, Dosely (4.6 from 87 ratings) forecasts your supply, and Peptide Tracker Log & Reminder (4.9 from 2,643 ratings) tracks vials at no cost.

How many doses are left in my vial?

Divide what's left by your dose. A vial starts at its labelled amount and every dose you take comes off it, so a full vial's doses are its milligrams over your dose; the water you add doesn't change the count. Example: a 10 mg vial at 250 mcg once a day holds 40 doses, 40 days of supply. PepVault keeps that count for each vial as you log, and the free vial calculator on this site does it for one vial with no signup.

When will my vial run out?

Space the doses left by your schedule: once a day uses one a day, twice a week about one every three and a half days. A weekly shot works the same way: a 10 mg vial at 2.5 mg once a week holds 4 doses, 4 weeks of supply. PepVault shows the run-out date for every vial and moves it when your schedule or a step-up changes; a mixed vial also meets its 28-day mark, so it runs out at whichever comes first.

Does PepVault remind me to reorder?

PepVault marks a vial running low when it has a week or less left and shows reorder once it's empty, on the Vials tab, and Today shows the vial behind your next dose. It doesn't send a push notification for a low vial yet.

Can I track a vial I've already started?

Yes. Add the vial with the date you started it and the doses already taken from it, and the count starts from what's actually left. Pens and pill bottles count the same way, by the doses they hold.

Is PepVault on Android?

Not yet: PepVault, the app from pepvault.app, is iPhone-only. The vial calculator, the Reconstitution Lab and the peptide library on this site work in any browser, Android included.
